Your data, respectfully.
What we collect, what we don't, and what we do with the difference.
1. Who we are
Countspace (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website countspace.app and associated services. For questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@countspace.app.
2. What we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate and improve Countspace:
- Account data — your email address when you create an account.
- Board content — countdown titles, dates, styling, and backgrounds you create and save.
- Payment data — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Usage analytics — aggregate, anonymised page-view and event data collected via Google Analytics (only with your consent — see section 4).
- Technical data — IP address (anonymised), browser type, and referring URL, used only to detect errors and abuse.
3. What we do not collect
- Cross-site tracking pixels from third-party advertisers.
- Any analytics or marketing data from visitors who decline those cookies.
- Sensitive personal data (health, financial, biometric, etc.).
4. Cookies and tracking
We show a cookie consent banner on your first visit. Cookies are grouped into three categories:
- Necessary — session authentication and security (Supabase). Always active and cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4, only if you consent. Collects anonymised data about how you navigate the site. IP addresses are anonymised and no personal data is sold or shared.
- Marketing & Ads — reserved for future advertising via Google AdSense. Only activated with your explicit consent and not currently in use.
We use Google Consent Mode v2, meaning analytics and advertising scripts are only loaded after you grant the relevant consent. You can update your preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.
Your consent is stored for 12 months. After that we will ask again.
5. How we use your data
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Countspace service.
- To send transactional emails (password reset, receipts) via Resend.
- To process payments via Stripe.
- To detect and prevent abuse or fraud.
- To improve performance and user experience (analytics, with consent only).
We never sell your personal data to third parties.
6. Subprocessors
We share data only with the subprocessors required to run the service:
- Supabase — database and authentication.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email.
- Vercel — hosting and edge network.
- Google Analytics — usage analytics (consent required).
All subprocessors are contractually bound to handle your data in accordance with applicable data protection law.
7. Data retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Board content is deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months (their default). Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations.
8. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — delete your account and all associated data from your account settings, or by emailing us.
- Restriction — ask us to pause processing your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Object — opt out of analytics or marketing at any time via cookie settings.
- Withdraw consent — change cookie preferences at any time via the link in the footer.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@countspace.app. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. International data transfers
Some of our subprocessors (Stripe, Google) process data in the United States. These transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
10. Children
Countspace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us immediately at privacy@countspace.app.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date below and, for material changes, notify you via email if you have an account.
